Large Coral bowl - dark blue coral on textured clear base
A statement coral-themed bowl made in dark blue glass on a textured clear glass base with an irregular edge.
A development of my earlier pieces - the beauty of a coral bowl but this is more robust with a solid base. It can be used decoratively or functionally, eg. as a fruit bowl, or to store other things although it’s a shame not to show off its full glory!
A dramatic piece which would make an excellent gift for a housewarming, birthday, wedding or anniversary.
This piece is made in three stages: first, the blue coral is made. All the pieces are cut by hand and laid out (a bit like a jigsaw). It’s fired flat and then fired again on top of the clear base with the texture produced in the kiln. Then it’s fired for a third time into a ceramic mould so it takes the shape of a bowl.
Measurements: diameter 37cm, 7.5cm deep
Care: Handwash with care
